Spiral conveyors
Spiral conveyors are manufactured and supplied by APOLLO VTS. Spiral conveyors are nowadays a proven and reliable solution for vertical transport requirements (if space is an issue) of packed products. Our spiral conveyors are of heavy duty construction and can be delivered in painted carbon steel, stainless steel or wash down versions, suitable for the food industry. Please feel free to contact us for application assistance.
Spiral conveyor benefits/features
The spiral conveyor's main features can be summarised as follows:
- Small footprint
- Proven and reliable vertical conveyor for packed products
- One (1) drive
- Low (100% roller) friction due to specific APOLLO chain slat arrangement
- Built in safety protection
- Overlapping slats
- Easy to install
- Low maintenance
- Minimum noise level

Floorspace/small footprint
Spiral conveyors save valuable floor space. The spiral conveyor can convey loads up to 50 kg up and down in a continuous operation and can also be used as a space efficient buffer system. The spiral conveyor is of a rugged and modular design.
Roller friction/one drive
Only one (1) drive is required due to our special proprietary low friction chain slat arrangement. Low friction steel or stainless steel bearings in conjunction with the specific guiding system ensures very low friction and a smooth/quiet operation of the spiral conveyor.

Single lane spiral conveyor
Spiral conveyors varying in belt widths from 200 mm to 650 mm as a single lane unit are utilized as elevators or as lowerators for continuous vertical transport featuring a small footprint, high throughput, low maintenance and long life. See below the different belt widths.

Double lane spiral conveyor
Double lane spiral conveyor with two (2) tracks next to each other. Is the latest development, already proven in the field. Both tracks are separately driven with a drive gear and have the possibility to run synchronised or with different speeds and or in opposite directions. This feature provides large flexibility for production facilities, where floor space is of utmost importance.
The double lane spiral conveyor can be executed with different track widths.

Mass flow spiral conveyor
The "Mass Flow" spiral conveyor with a 300 mm slat width is an ideal spiral conveyor for the transport of cans and bottles in mass flow. Products are transferred sideways onto our spiral conveyor and the similar process is applied at the outlet of the spiral conveyor.

Multi-level infeed and outfeed
Apollo VTS, leading supplier of spiral conveyors, launched a new shoot-in and shoot-out system at the Interpack 2008 which is held in Düsseldorf.
Ascending or descending products may enter as well as leave the spiral conveyor at almost every level in the windings.
As shown in the pictures, it is possible to enter the spiral conveyor from 2 or more levels.
A special engineered infeed belt will transfer the products smoothly from the existing line into the winding.
For shooting-out, Apollo VTS designed a pneumatic steered arm to turn and guide the products out of the spiral conveyor.
Again, a special fit outfeed belt will transfer the products on to an existing line.
Multiple tests have shown a multi levelled, smooth, continuous throughput of products. Several major system integrators are highly interested to implement this solution in their future projects.
